The Santander Group Summer Schools are events offered to students from SG member universities. They are organized annually at a different SG member institution. The objective of this SG’s initiative is to strengthen ties between international students as well as to widen young people’s knowledge about various dimensions of global and European integration, by providing them with an intensive and interdisciplinary program of lectures, discussion panels and workgroups. A diverse social programme is also a splendid opportunity to learn more about the host countries, their people, culture and natural beauty. SS is an enriching scientific experience as it enables young participants to develop problem oriented approaches for deeper integration in their own regions. The SG Summer Schools offer: • a wide range of interesting themes • excellent speakers • unique exchanges of experience and opinions • work in small project groups • valuable multinational contacts • a diverse social programme • opportunities for credit transfer UPCOMING SUMMER SCHOOL The next Santander Summer School will be taking place at the University of Catania (Catania, Italy) on 5th-12th July 2009. Its theme will be “Some Recent Developments for Modelling Environmental System”. The objective of this Summer School is to provide advanced training to students and graduates from all over Europe and beyond in the field of European issues of environmental and resource economics. The Module will be open to maximum 40 participants (students and graduates), who will be assessed in the final exam. At the end, an evaluation certificate will be delivered. Each course will be delivered by three qualified professors experts in environment. Tuitions and roundtables will be held in English. Good knowledge of English is recommended. Students will have the opportunity to visit the historical city centre, to participate in variety of cultural events and to a conclusive formal dinner.
