Telecollaboration in foreign language education - International Conference

12 February, 2014 - 09:00 to 14 February, 2014 - 17:00

The University of León will organise from 12 – 14 February 2014 an international conference on the theme of telecollaboration in foreign language education. We believe that this conference may be of interest to members of the SGroup European Universities’ Network.

Telecollaboration or Online Intercultural Exchange (OIE) engages groups of students in virtual intercultural interaction and exchange with partner classes in geographically distant locations. More and more universities are exploring how telecollaboration can support language learning, internationalisation of the curriculum and virtual mobility at their institutions.

The conference will involve many presentations on how universities are using telecollaboration in their institutions and it will also have keynote speakers from well-known educationalists such as Professor Michael Byram, Professor Marie-Noelle Lamy and Shamil Idriss. We also hope to have a speaker from the European Commission.

Colleagues can register for the conference, and, if they are interested, submit a proposal on the conference website.

Thanks to the funding from the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme, the conference will not have a registration fee. However, delegates are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodation, meals and travel fees.

Please note that places are limited, so if you plan to attend, please register as soon as possible.
